Living in a rented flat has many advantages but also obligations:
Be considerate to your neighbours!
You are obliged to show consideration. Remember that in an apartment block you have neighbours on all sides. Disturbances like shouting and loud music are not allowed. Especially important late evenings! As a tenant you are responsible for every member of your household and even for your visitors.
Report faults as soon as possible!
Any faults or defects that arise have to be reported immediately. You may be held responsible if failure to report a fault leads to serious damage.
Take care of your flat!
Here are some simple tips:
Keep the cooker and oven clean so that dirt and grease don´t become ingrained. Defrost fridge and freezer regularly. Use mild detergents in the WC, sink and bath.
Stairwell and entrances!
Don´t place things on the stairs or outside the door. In case of accident the emergency services need access.
Carpets and rugs!
Do not shake carpets and rugs from windows or balconies. It´s not considerate to people who live underneath.
Dogs and cats!
Pick up after your dog. Cats and dogs are not allowed to run loose.
Don´t feed the birds!
It can attract rats and mice.
The laundry room!
Please follow the instructions closely! Book in advance, only one day at a time. You are not allowed to do the laundry to people not living in your flat. Treat the machines with care. Clean up after use!
Pay your rent in time!
You must pay the rent in advance each month.
Get a householder´s insurance policy!
It gives good protection against damage to property, fire and theft.
